Inflation Hits 10-Month Peak, Prices Continue to Climb

Islamabad – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the prices of 23 essential goods went up in the past week. Food and household items became costlier in several regions, adding pressure on families.

The price of a 20-kg flour bag increased by Rs465, making the average cost Rs2,294. In some cities, it was sold for as high as Rs2,500. This shows a sharp rise of over 25% in just one week.

Tomatoes saw the biggest jump, with prices rising by 46% in a week. The average price is now Rs205 per kg, while some markets charge up to Rs300. Onion prices also rose by 8.57%, crossing Rs80 per kg on average.

Live broiler chicken became more expensive, now at Rs540 per kg. Prices of garlic, potatoes, moong lentils, bread, LPG, and even clothing also climbed.

The national statistics office reported a 1.29% rise in the weekly inflation rate, pushing the annual inflation figure to 5.07%.

However, a few items such as bananas, sugar, and diesel became cheaper. Four essential goods dropped in price, while 24 remained stable.
