Indonesian Experts Engaged on Kashmir Conflict Awareness

Pakistan Embassy in Indonesia marks Youm-e-Istehsal with seminar, documentary, exhibition, and expert engagement efforts.

Youm-e-Istehsal Observed in Indonesia to Express Solidarity with Kashmiri People

To express solidarity with the Kashmiri people, Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) was observed on 5 August 2025. In this regard, a number of activities took place in Indonesia as well.

The Embassy of Pakistan organized a seminar titled “Ongoing Human Rights Abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).”

The speakers including academics, researchers, analysts, policy experts, and human rights activists highlighted various aspects of the Kashmir dispute.

Ambassador’s Address on the Significance of Youm-e-Istehsal

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri highlighted the importance of the day. He stated that Kashmiris around the world commemorate 5 August as “Youm-e-Istehsal” (Day of Exploitation) to remember the unilateral and unlawful measures taken by India on 5 August 2019, which changed the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K)—a region recognized by the United Nations as disputed since 1948.

The Ambassador further noted that this day serves as a reminder of the international community’s responsibility to resolve the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the people of IIOJK and relevant UN resolutions.

Global Leaders Call for Peaceful Solution in Kashmir

India’s Continued Human Rights Violations in IIOJK

He further emphasized that even after more than seventy years, India has failed to suppress the spirit of the people of IIOJK. He pointed out that Indian occupation forces operate with impunity, resulting in widespread human rights abuses. Thousands of Kashmiris have been martyred, countless children left orphaned, and many women subjected to molestation and rape. A large number of youth have gone missing while in custody. Pakistan has consistently stood by the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people and continues to raise the issue at every international platform to highlight the suffering of those in IIOJK and their ongoing fight for freedom.

Documentary Screening and Photo Exhibition

During the event, a documentary was screened and a photo exhibition was organized to highlight the region’s human rights situation.

The Ambassador gave an interview to the local media and urged them to raise their voice in support of the Kashmiri people.

Engagement with Local Stakeholders

Local think tanks, academicians, and policy influential were also engaged to sensitize them about the history of the Kashmir issue and to apprise them of the latest situation in the occupied territory.
