India’s Participation Uncertainty Won’t Affect Champions Trophy; Chairman PCB
Islamabad-PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan, despite uncertainty around India’s participation. He has been in contact with the BCCI Secretary and other participating boards to ensure the tournament’s success.
Naqvi also addressed concerns about venue changes, stating that the Test series between Pakistan and England will take place in Multan and Rawalpindi. He confirmed that the PCB is in touch with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and that they are satisfied with the arrangements.
Regarding the Champions Trophy, Naqvi stated that the renovations of the stadiums will be completed before the tournament begins. He provided a detailed timeline for the completion of the renovations, including the construction of the basement and main building of the Gaddafi Stadium, as well as the rebuilding of the Pindi Stadium and renovation of the National Stadium in Karachi.
Additionally, Naqvi announced that the national selectors and coaches will decide on the appointment of the Pakistan men’s team captain. He revealed that a workshop is scheduled for September 22 to discuss the future of Pakistan cricket, including the captaincy of the national men’s teams.
