Indian Sikh Pilgrims Reach Gurdwara Panja Sahib after Sacred Yatra at Sachcha Sauda

They were transported in three different convoys under strict security measures

LAHORE (News Desk): Under the supervision of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony, the group of Indian Sikh pilgrims, who are on a 10-day visit to Pakistan, has reached Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hasan Abdal, after completing the yatra at Gurdwara Sachcha Sauda in Farooqabad.

The Sikh pilgrims performed their religious rituals at Gurdwara Sachcha Sauda located in the city of Farooqabad, District Sheikhupura.

They were transported in three different convoys under strict security measures. According to the schedule, after the yatra at Gurdwara Sachcha Sauda, the Sikh pilgrims arrived at Gurdwara Panja Sahib.

The Sikh pilgrims from India expressed satisfaction over the facilities provided by the Government of Pakistan. Nishan Singh, a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, said that excellent arrangements had been made for their accommodation, including new and comfortable bedding, as well as good arrangements for langar and clean drinking water.

Deputy Party Leader Gurmeet Singh Boh, while commenting on their visit to Pakistan, said that Pakistani religious sites are very beautiful and have been preserved in their original form, for which they are grateful to the Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Government of Pakistan.

Harmit Singh Chandu, a representative of the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee, told the media during his visit to Sachcha Sauda that continuous medical facilities are being provided to the pilgrims along with proper transportation and other services, which clearly reflects the love and care the Pakistani government has for minorities.

Additional Secretary Shrines of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, Nasir Mushtaq, said that he is thankful to the ETPB team and the district administration for successfully organizing the three-day central celebrations at Gurdwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib.

He added that Sikh pilgrims from India and around the world take with them a message of peace and love from Pakistan and help dispel any negative perception about the country.

The site where Guru Nanak fed hungry saints is famously known as “Sachcha Sauda.” This sacred site of the Sikhs is located 15 kilometers west of Sheikhupura near Farooqabad, about 3 kilometers from the main area. Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, used to rest here during his travels.

After completing the yatra at Sachcha Sauda, the Sikh pilgrims were taken in three separate bus convoys from Sheikhupura to Hasan Abdal under tight security. The pilgrims were welcomed by Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq and other district officials.

The ETPB Technical Wing and Gurdwara administration beautifully illuminated Gurdwara Panja Sahib with decorative lights and installed beautiful canopies in the residential areas of the pilgrims.

Arrangements for cleanliness and langar were also made. The pilgrims will stay for one day at Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal where they will perform religious rituals and visit the shrine of Baba Wali Kandhari.
