Punjab PDMA warns of floods in Sutlej River

India -Pakistan- (Special Correspondent/Web desk) The Punjab PDMA has warned of potential flooding in the Sutlej River and its tributaries, especially near Ganda Singh Wala. The alert follows reports that India may release water in the next 72 hours, adding to upstream releases and increasing the river’s level.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said water levels in major Indian dams have risen sharply over the past week. Bhakra Dam is now 61 percent full, Pong Dam has reached 76 percent, and Thein Dam is at 64 percent capacity.NDMA Cautions Public on Disease Threats from Mosquitoes, Insects in Monsoon

Commissioners of Lahore, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan — along with deputy commissioners from Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan — have been directed to stay alert for any flood-related developments.

The PDMA, IRSA, and the irrigation department are monitoring the situation around the clock. Alerts have been issued to the local government, agriculture, health, forestry, livestock, and transport departments. Emergency control rooms have been told to remain staffed 24/7, and Rescue 1122 disaster response teams are on high alert.
