India Defeats Bangladesh to Reach Asia Cup Final

India scored 168 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

DUBAI: In the Asia Cup T20 tournament’s Super 4 stage, India secured a place in the final by defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs.

Chasing a target of 169 runs set by India, Bangladesh was all out for 127 runs in the final over.

The crucial Super 4 match between India and Bangladesh took place in Dubai, where Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first, inviting India to bat.

Bangladesh made four changes to their playing XI for this match. Captain Liton Das was ruled out due to injury, with Shakib Al Hasan taking over the captaincy duties.

India’s Innings

India scored 168 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma played an aggressive innings, scoring 75 runs off just 37 balls.

Other notable contributors included Shubman Gill (29), Shivam Dube (2), captain Surya Kumar Yadav (5), Tilak Varma (5), and Hardik Pandya who scored 38 runs.

Bangladesh’s Rashid Khan took two wickets.

Bangladesh’s Innings

While chasing 169 runs, Bangladesh’s batsmen struggled to build partnerships and were restricted to 127 runs.

Saif Hassan was the top scorer with 69 runs, followed by Pruiz Hossain with 21. No other Bangladeshi batsman managed to reach double figures.

India’s Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy took 2 wickets each.

With this win, India has advanced to the Asia Cup final, eliminating Sri Lanka from the tournament.

India will play their last Super 4 match against Sri Lanka on Friday.

Following India’s qualification, the upcoming match between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday has taken the form of a virtual semi-final, with the winner set to face India in the final.
