Harare: (Sports Desk) – India secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20I series against Zimbabwe after defeating the hosts by 90 runs in the second match on Saturday.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan delivered a brilliant knock of 81 runs off 44 balls, while Tilak Varma smashed an unbeaten 60 off 29 deliveries to guide India to a massive total of 219 for 5.

The duo formed a crucial partnership, with Kishan adding 95 runs with Varma for the fourth wicket after a 66-run stand with captain Shreyas Iyer, who scored 25.

Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made headlines after scoring his maiden T20I half-century in the previous match, managed 20 runs in this game.

Chasing 220, Zimbabwe struggled against India’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs. Opener Brian Bennett top-scored with 32, while wicketkeeper Tadiwanashe Marumani contributed 24.

Left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma was India’s leading bowler, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs, while pacer Yash Thakur claimed his maiden T20I wicket.

The victory marked a strong comeback for India after recent series defeats in Ireland and England. The final match of the three-game series will be played on Sunday.
