India Defeat Pakistan by 61 Runs in T20 World Cup Clash

Colombo (Web Desk): In a much-anticipated encounter of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, India cricket team defeated Pakistan cricket team by 61 runs in Colombo.
Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 175 runs, setting Pakistan a target of 176. In reply, Pakistan’s batting lineup failed to build momentum and was bowled out for just 114 runs. Only three Pakistani batters managed to reach double figures, while three players were dismissed without scoring.
Pakistan’s chase got off to a disastrous start as opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for a duck in the first over. Saim Ayub scored 6 before departing, followed by captain Salman Ali Agha who managed only 4 runs. Former skipper Babar Azam also struggled and was bowled for 5. Usman Khan was the lone bright spot for Pakistan, top-scoring with 44 runs, but received little support from the rest of the lineup as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Earlier, Pakistan showed some promise with the ball when Salman Ali Agha removed Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the opening over. India’s second wicket fell at 88 when Ishan Kishan was bowled by Saim Ayub after a brilliant knock of 77 runs off 40 balls, which included three sixes and ten fours. Tilak Varma (25) and Hardik Pandya (0) were dismissed in quick succession, while Suryakumar Yadav contributed 32 before being caught off Usman Tariq. India closed their innings on 175 runs, with Saim Ayub emerging as Pakistan’s most successful bowler, taking three wickets.
Despite brief moments of resistance, Pakistan could not recover from early setbacks, allowing India to seal a convincing 61-run victory in this high-voltage World Cup clash.
