AHMADABAD: (Web Desk)- India national cricket team defeated New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, claiming the T20 title for the third time.
The final was held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first against India.
Batting first, India posted a massive 255 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs, led by sensational performances from Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma. Samson scored a blistering 89 runs off 46 balls, Kishan made 54 off 24 balls, and Sharma contributed 52 off 21 balls. Shivam Dube remained unbeaten with 26 runs off 8 balls, helping India set a daunting target.
In response, New Zealand struggled to chase the total. James Neesham claimed 3 wickets, while Matt Henry and Richan Virendra took one wicket each.
With this comprehensive victory, India was crowned T20 World Cup champions, marking another milestone in their cricketing history.
