India Bowled Out for Record Low 46 Runs in First Test Against New Zealand

India-(Sports Reporter): In an unprecedented collapse, India was dismissed for a meager 46 runs on Day 2 of the first Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This dismal total now stands as India’s lowest-ever score in Test cricket on home soil, overtaking their previous record low of 75 against the West Indies in Delhi in 1987.

After choosing to bat first, India’s top order fell apart dramatically, with five key players, including Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin, all departing without scoring. Captain Rohit Sharma managed just 2 runs, while Rishabh Pant’s determined 20 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 13 were the only double-digit contributions in what turned out to be a nightmare for Indian supporters.

New Zealand’s pace attack, led by Matt Henry with 5 wickets and William O’Rourke with 4, devastated India’s batting line-up with clinical precision. Tim Southee also took a wicket, completing India’s downfall. The Kiwi bowlers’ dominance left India reeling, adding a dark chapter to their Test cricket history.

Bowled out in just 31.2 overs, India surrendered control of the match, leaving New Zealand trailing by only 42 runs. It was a day Indian cricket will want to erase, as concerns mount over their batting vulnerabilities, particularly at home.
