India Bowl Out South Africa for 270 in ODI Decider
Arshdeep Singh struck in the opening over by removing Ryan Rickelton for a duck
MUMBAI: India bowled out South Africa for 270 in the third and deciding one-day international on Saturday, despite a brilliant century from opener Quinton de Kock.
India finally won an ODI toss after an extraordinary run of 20 consecutive losses, with skipper KL Rahul choosing to field first in Visakhapatnam.
De Kock scored a sparkling 106 from 89 balls and shared a 113-run stand with captain Temba Bavuma, who made 48. Their partnership gave South Africa a strong platform in a series known for high totals and tied at 1-1.
However, India hit back with regular breakthroughs. Kuldeep Yadav delivered excellent figures of 4 for 41, while pace bowler Prasidh Krishna also claimed four wickets to restrict South Africa to 270 in 47.5 overs.
De Kock reached his seventh ODI hundred against India with a six off Harshit Rana and smashed eight fours and six sixes before Krishna dismissed him soon after his milestone.
Dewald Brevis made 29 and Marco Jansen added 17 in a brief recovery attempt, but Kuldeep removed both batters within three balls to regain control for India. Keshav Maharaj remained unbeaten on 20 as the innings came to a close.
