India and US to hold key trade talks in New Delhi this Tuesday.

The US and India seek a fast-track trade deal after new tariffs cause Indian exports to hit a nine-month low.

US – India – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) -India and the United States are getting ready for important trade discussions in New Delhi this Tuesday. This meeting comes just weeks after US President Donald Trump placed new taxes on goods from India. These taxes have already slowed down India’s exports, which hit a nine-month low in August.

India’s top trade official, Rajesh Agarwal, said the two countries want to “fast-track” these talks. He shared this news while releasing new trade data but did not provide any specific details. He confirmed that a key US trade official, Brendan Lynch, will be visiting New Delhi for the one-day meeting.

The numbers show a clear impact. India’s total exports dropped in August. Because of this, the gap between what India sells and what it buys from other countries got a little smaller. The new US taxes specifically target India’s continued purchase of oil from Russia. This action doubled the tax on some Indian products, making them some of the highest-taxed items entering the US.

This pressure is clearly seen in trade with America. India’s exports to the US fell significantly in August compared to July. The full effect of these higher taxes is expected to be even stronger next month.
