Independent Urdu Delegation Visits DGPR AJK, Announces Media Internships
The delegation appreciated the DGPR’s efforts for the promotion and development of media in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Muzaffarabad: A delegation from the British broadcasting organization Independent Urdu on Wednesday visited the Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR) and appreciated its efforts for the promotion and development of media in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Independent Urdu delegation comprised Senior Manager Haroon-ul-Rashid, Project Consultant Dr. Palwasha Khan, and Video Journalist Fahad Mazhar.
After a formal meeting with Director Public Relations Raja Amjad Hussain Minhas and other officials, the visiting delegation inspected various sections of the department, including the Digital Media Cell, and the news writing, monitoring and production units.
On this occasion, the delegates received a detailed briefing from Information Officers Raja Sohail Khan, Khawaja Hanif, Raja Abdul Basit, Khizr Hayat, and Sajid Nazir regarding the modern facilities available in the DGPR.

Earlier, Director Public Relations Raja Amjad Hussain Minhas and Director Social and Digital Media Muhammad Bashir Mirza warmly welcomed the delegation.
They informed the delegates that the Information Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is working in close coordination with local media organizations.
Raja Amjad Hussain Minhas said that special focus is being given to capacity building and professional training of the younger generation in the media sector.
“Providing practical experience to students through internship programs is among the top priorities of the department,” he said.
He expressed the optimism that the department’s collaboration with Independent Urdu would contribute to further enhancing media professionalism in the region.
Emphasizing the growing influence of social media, Mr. Minhas stressed the importance of upholding journalistic values and ethical standards in the current media environment.
The delegation appreciated the DGPR’s efforts for the promotion and development of media in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
They noted that professional training for media students is the need of the hour and expressed willingness to work jointly in this regard.
The delegation also announced the organization_Independent Urdu_would offer internship opportunities to students of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to help them gain practical experience and prepare them for future roles in the media industry.
