Incoming CJP Yahya Afridi Emphasizes Judicial Priorities and Rule of Law

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal); In a recent reference address, Chief Justice-designate Yahya Afridi emphasized the need to uphold the separation of powers and the rule of law across the country.
He highlighted the importance of prioritizing the district judiciary in remote areas, stating, “My top priority would be the district judiciary in far-flung areas.” Justice Afridi acknowledged the Chief Justice’s vital role in safeguarding the rights of women and children, adding, “We will uphold the principle of power separation.”
Reflecting on his working relationship with outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, he noted that while they sometimes held differing views on the bench, “Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa always listened to my perspective with an open heart.”
In a lighthearted moment, Justice Afridi remarked that Chief Justice Isa would not be receiving a farewell lunch funded by the government, as he only accepted the invitation once he knew he’d be covering the cost himself.

Justice Afridi also acknowledged Serena Isa’s contributions, highlighting her role as a symbol of support within the judiciary’s community spirit.
