Imran Khan’s lawyers boycott hearing over poor WhatsApp connection.
Defense lawyers stage a walkout, protesting poor video call quality they say prevents a fair trial for the former PM.
Rawalpindi – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – On Tuesday, lawyers for former Prime Minister Imran Khan walked out of an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi. They protested because of a poor-quality WhatsApp call used to connect with their client, who is in jail. The court was hearing a case about the attack on the army’s GHQ building that happened in May 2023.
The court had previously refused a request for Imran Khan to appear in person. During the hearing, his lawyers tried to speak with him via the video call. However, the connection was bad, with a blurry picture and broken audio. The legal team called the situation “unfair” and decided to boycott the rest of the proceedings.

Despite the lawyers leaving, the judge continued with the hearing. Statements were recorded from eight witnesses, including officials from media and investigation agencies. After this, the judge ended the session and scheduled the next hearing for September 27, when more witnesses will be called.
