Imran Khan Submits Written Response to Supreme Court, Urges Dismissal of Intra-Court Appeals Against NAB Amendments

Khan highlighted that NAB inflated the value of a necklace from 18 million PKR to 318 million PKR to build a case against him.

Islamabad: In a significant development, PTI founder Imran Khan has submitted a written response to the Supreme Court, urging the dismissal of intra-court appeals against the annulment of recent amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws.

Imran Khan argued that amending laws to protect individuals involved in corruption is unprecedented even in “banana republics.” He emphasized that corruption has devastating and negative impacts on the economy.

During the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah noted that the amendments could benefit Imran Khan as well. However, Khan clarified that his stance is focused on the country’s well-being, not personal gains.

He stressed that the Parliament should legislate in accordance with the Constitution. If NAB misuses its authority, amendments should be limited to preventing such misuse. He cited the Toshakhana case against him as an example of NAB’s abuse of power.

Khan highlighted that NAB inflated the value of a necklace from 18 million PKR to 318 million PKR to build a case against him. He requested that the Chief Justice recuse himself from hearing his cases due to past decisions.

Imran Khan accused past corrupt officials of using laws and Parliament as a shield, eroding public trust in the legal system. He stated that laws should serve the public, not individuals, and called on the Supreme Court to remain vigilant and ensure the protection of public interests.

Khan’s response underscores his commitment to upholding the integrity of the legal system and preventing the misuse of legislative powers for personal protection against corruption charges.
