Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi accompanied by former federal minister Moonis Elahi called on PTI Chairman Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence in Islamabad on Wednesday,
On the occasion, Imran Khan congratulated Pervaiz Elahi on assuming the charges of Punjab chief minister. Pervaiz Elahi thanked Imran Khan for his confidence in him and PML-Q.
A detailed discussion on current political situation in the country was held during meeting, followed by consultations on cabinet formation in Punjab.
meeting also pondered over inducting 25 ministers in Punjab cabinet in first phase.
Dr Shahbaz Gill was also present in meeting.
Meanwhile, in a tweet posted on Wednesday, Imran Khan said “I want to thank the nation for coming out spontaneously last evening in support of the SC decision upholding Constitution & the Law. Tonight I will address our people at 10:00pm giving them our way forward for a sovereign Pakistan.”
Pervaiz Elahi had been sworn in as new Punjab chief minister at President’s House at about 2:00 am last night.
President Arif Alvi administered the oath as the Punjab governor refused to do so.
Pervaiz Elahi flew to the federal capital from Lahore in a special plane. Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Musa Elahi, Mahmoodur Rashid, Zain Qureshi and Murad Raas accompanied him.
Earlier, the Supreme Court struck down Punjab Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari’s ruling making Hamza Shehbaz chief minister.
Delivering the verdict on Pervaiz Elahi’s petition, the top court directed issuing a notification of removal of Hamza Shehbaz from the office of chief minister.
apex court asked the governor to administer the oath to the new chief minister. President Alvi will administer the oath if Punjab governor refused to do so, the court ruled.
