Imran Khan Demands SC Nod for Meeting, Slams ‘Military Dictatorship’

Khan rejected the idea of a hybrid system, stating, “There is no hybrid regime in Pakistan.

Islamabad – : Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to seek Supreme Court permission to meet him, criticizing the lack of consultation on key governance matters, including the provincial budget. Khan, who remains incarcerated, stated that Gandapur must brief him on the province’s law and order situation and other important issues.

In a strongly worded post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the PTI founder launched a scathing attack on Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, accusing him of establishing a “worst form of dictatorship” in Pakistan. Khan alleged that instead of demanding an apology from him, it is Asim Munir who owes him an apology, claiming that the events of May 9 were orchestrated by the military leadership.

“No Hybrid Regime – It’s Pure Dictatorship”

Khan rejected the idea of a hybrid system, stating, “There is no hybrid regime in Pakistan. This is Asim Munir’s dictatorship.” He also claimed that former U.S. President Donald Trump invited the Army Chief instead of the Prime Minister, a move Khan said reflects the real power structure in the country.

The former prime minister alleged continuous persecution of his family, including the abduction of his two nephews, Sharyz Khan and Sher Shah, who he said have no political affiliations. He claimed Sharyz, a promising athlete, was abducted without cause.

Solitary Confinement and Alleged Mistreatment of Bushra Bibi

Khan also revealed that he has been kept in solitary confinement, allowed only three meetings in three months, and often denied access to legal counsel and family members. He claimed his wife, Bushra Bibi, has also been kept in solitary confinement for the past eight months, calling the treatment unprecedented even in Pakistan’s turbulent political history.

He alleged that Bushra Bibi was pressured to separate from him, referencing statements by Faisal Vawda, whom he described as a spokesperson for the establishment. Khan further claimed that COAS Asim Munir had previously attempted to reach out to Bushra Bibi through Zulfi Bukhari after being removed as DG ISI, and her refusal led to her current treatment.

Khan accused authorities of subjecting Bushra Bibi to harsh prison conditions, alleging she has suffered electric shocks, injuries, and is being given contaminated water.

Condemnation of Judiciary and Law Enforcement

Khan harshly criticized the judiciary, labeling certain judges as “conscience-less”, and accused them of complicity in the erosion of human rights. He claimed that following the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the judiciary has become completely subservient to the executive.

“If our judges had a conscience, feared God, and upheld justice, the current state of tyranny and injustice would not exist,” Khan stated. He held these judges equally responsible for the ongoing suppression of his party and its supporters.

Khan further accused the police of becoming criminalized under political pressure and claimed that the rise in crime and unemployment is a direct result of the state’s crackdown on PTI and the installation of corrupt elements in power.

He also alleged that many politicians with proven records of corruption and money laundering have been imposed on the nation, with cases against them dropped once they quit PTI.

Pledge to Continue ‘Struggle for Real Freedom’

Despite ongoing pressure and isolation, Khan reiterated his commitment to continue his “struggle for Haqeeqi Azadi” (real freedom). He stated:

“You can jail my entire family, but I will neither bow nor accept this tyranny.”

In a parting shot, Khan compared COAS Asim Munir’s role in politics to what Mohsin Naqvi allegedly did to Pakistan cricket, implying mismanagement and overreach.
