Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Sentenced in Toshakhana II Case

The court imposed a combined fine of Rs164 million on the couple.

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court sentenced former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to prison terms in the Toshakhana II case. The verdict was announced during a hearing held at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, by Special Judge Central Shah Rukh Arjumand.

The court awarded each of the accused two separate sentences of 10 years and seven years, bringing their total imprisonment to 17 years each. In addition, the court imposed a combined fine of Rs164 million on the couple.

The trial had reached its final stage after the completion of statements under Section 342 and concluding arguments. The last hearing in the case was held on October 16, after which proceedings were adjourned three times. Imran Khan’s counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar, appeared before the court.

The case relates to allegations concerning the illegal handling and misuse of state gifts received during Imran Khan’s tenure in office.
