Imran gives call for protest outside ECP office against caretaker Punjab CM’s appointment,
Petition challenging ECP’s proceedings to get hearing,
Lahore_A day after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) appointed Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as caretaker Punjab chief minister, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan called on Monday for protest against the election of caretaker CM.
Mr Khan presided over the party’s consultative meeting, at which the election of a caretaker CM was highlighted, and it was decided to strongly protest the ECP’s decision. The PTI had decided to stage a protest tomorrow outside the ECP’s Punjab office.
The petition will also be filed tomorrow in court to challenge the appointment of caretaker chief minister. In response to the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as caretaker chief minister, Mr Khan stated that the ECP showed it was bias.
Earlier, The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday accepted the plea that challenged the proceedings of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de seat the former premier Imran Khan as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman.
As per details, Justice Shahid Bilawal Hassan would head the five-member LHC bench to hear the case on January 30 with other memebrs of the bench including Justice Shahid Karim, Justice Jawad Hassan, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza, Justice Shehram Sarwar and Justice Jawad Hassan.
Meanwhile, Justice Jawad Hassan recommended the formation of the larger bench. Earlier, ECP had issued a notice regarding the removal of Imran Khan as the party’s chief.
The Electoral body had also declared Imran Khan “incompetent” in the ToshaKhana case when the five-member bench of the institution gave a unanimous decision.
