ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has requested the disclosure of government employees’ assets.
Speaking to the media, Aurangzeb said that legislation has already been passed to make the assets of government employees public. He emphasized that the IMF’s request is not an additional condition but a practical step.
He added that next year’s budget will be prepared by policymakers, not the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). “Every sector should focus on exports; we are here to serve. The formal sector has suggested taking action against the non-compliant sectors,” he said.
Aurangzeb stressed that the private sector must lead the country and that job creation is the responsibility of private businesses, not the government. He also noted that out of the eight National Finance Commission (NFC) groups, two are with the federation and six with the provinces.
