IHC Orders PTA Chairman Hafeez-ur-Rehman’s Removal Over Illegal Appointment

The verdict came in response to a petition challenging the chairman’s appointment, which the court has now accepted.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday ordered the removal of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman, Major General (R) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, declaring his appointment legally flawed.

The court observed that the process through which the chairman was appointed did not comply with statutory requirements, making his continuation in office unlawful.

Justice Babar Sattar, who presided over the case, delivered a comprehensive 99-page judgment, emphasizing that adherence to legal procedures in appointments of regulatory bodies is vital to ensure transparency and good governance.
