IHC accepted request by PTI Imran Khan for submitting additional documents in case
Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted a request made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for submitting additional documents in a case seeking his disqualification for concealing his alleged daughter Tyrian White’s name in the nomination papers.
According to the source, a larger bench headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition filed by a citizen named Muhammad Sajid, who contended that Imran Khan had disclosed his two sons and not his alleged daughter Tyrian White in the nomination papers. He sought the disqualification of the former premier under Article 62(i)(f).
As per details during the hearing, the chief remarked that a decision about admissibility of the disqualification petition was yet to be taken, adding that the bench would hear arguments if the plea was declared admissible. The chief justice said Imran Khan had been accused of concealing information in the nomination papers and in a affidavit. He directed the PTI chief’s counsel Salman Akram Raja to submit his arguments on the admissibility of the petition on March 1.
Meanwhile during Feb 2’s hearing, the PTI chief’s lawyer argued that the petition was not admissible on legal grounds as he was not a member of the National Assembly anymore. He also raised objection over the bench, stating that Justice Aamer Farooq had already recused himself from hearing the similar case in 2018.
