IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inaugurates Historic Rustam Police Station in Mardan

The visit concluded with a tree-planting ceremony at Thana Rustam, reinforcing the police department's commitment to environmental conservation.

MARDAN: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Zulfiqar Hameed, visited Mardan district to inaugurate the newly constructed building of the historic Rustam Police Station, originally established in 1836.

During the ceremony, IGP Hameed emphasized the station’s rich history, noting its significance since the Sikh and British eras. He highlighted its continued importance today, given its strategic location near the mountainous Buner district.

The IGP conducted a thorough inspection of the new facilities, which include the SHO office, ladies desk and restroom, Muharrar office, kot, lockup, and barracks. Praising the efforts of women police officers, he stressed the importance of people-friendly policing and urged police officials to transform police stations into citizen-centric service centers.

Certificates of appreciation and awards were distributed to high-performing officers in the Mardan region, with the IGP underscoring that dedication and honesty form the true identity of the police force.

IGP Hameed also met with members of the Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) of Rustam and Katling, commending their role in promoting social harmony and easing the judicial system’s burden through amicable dispute resolution.
