IGP Azad Kashmir press release calls Rawalakot sit-in videos old and misleading
IGP Azad Kashmir press release rejects claims of firing at Dreik Eidgah sit-in
Muzafarabad – (Special Corrrespondent / Web Desk) – An IGP Azad Kashmir press release has rejected claims of firing and shelling at the Rawalakot Dreik Eidgah sit-in. Police say no operation took place at the site this morning, despite videos spreading fast on social media.
The police spokesperson said certain groups linked to the banned Action Committee are sharing old, unrelated clips to scare people. Officials believe the goal is to shake public trust in law enforcement.
According to the statement, the sit-in has seen fewer people showing up lately. Police say the group is losing public support, so they are turning to dramatic and misleading posts to stay relevant.
The press release urged citizens to stay calm and avoid sharing unverified videos or news. People are asked to check facts before posting anything online and to trust only official sources.
Officials also said that peaceful protest is a legal right, and every citizen’s rights will be respected. At the same time, they stressed that law and order will be maintained at all costs.
The situation in Rawalakot remains sensitive, with earlier weeks seeing real clashes, arrests, and casualties tied to the wider protest movement. Residents are advised to stay alert and rely on verified updates only.
