Staff Leaves Cancelled, Complaint Centers on High Alert for Moharram
ISLAMABAD – June 23, 2025: In line with the directions of Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced comprehensive measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Moharram-ul-Haram, particularly on the 9th and 10th of Moharram.
Chief Executive IESCO, Muhammad Naeem Jan, issued strict instructions to all operational, construction, and support departments through a Zoom meeting, emphasizing the urgency and importance of the matter.
“All damaged, overloaded, and under-performing transformers and other critical equipment must be upgraded or replaced immediately,” said Naeem Jan. He further directed that all hanging electricity wires along the routes of mourning processions must be secured to avoid any risk to public safety.
IESCO field formations have been instructed to maintain close coordination with the district administration and organizers of mourning processions. They are to gather complete route maps and finalize a detailed plan to ensure smooth power operations during the processions.
To facilitate swift resolution of electricity-related complaints during the month, especially on key days, the Chief Executive ordered the cancellation of all staff leaves. He also instructed that complaint center staff across the region remain on high alert.
In addition, emergency response teams are to be fully formed, and control rooms will be established at sub-division, division, circle, and IESCO headquarters levels. “Negligence will not be tolerated at any cost,” the Chief Executive warned.
