Rawalpindi — The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has initiated a large-scale data collection campaign across its Rawalpindi City Circle, aiming to enhance billing accuracy, ownership verification, and communication with consumers. This drive will impact over 400,000 consumers, improving services such as installment facilitation and timely updates on load-shedding and maintenance schedules.
The campaign is overseen by Superintending Engineer Mohsin Ali Memon, with XEN Shah Nawaz supervising on-ground operations in the Westridge Subdivision. Field teams are conducting door-to-door visits in Westridge, Satellite Town, and City Subdivisions to collect national identity card (CNIC) numbers and mobile phone details from consumers.
The collected data will be stored in a centralized database, allowing IESCO to send real-time service notifications and updates directly via SMS to registered users. Shah Nawaz emphasized that all data collection is being conducted transparently, with staff verifying original CNICs and entering information directly into the system.

He noted that this initiative will help curb fraudulent meter ownership transfers and property encroachments, as any change in ownership will now require verified consent from the property owner. Shah Nawaz also urged residents to cooperate with IESCO teams and verify official identification before sharing information to prevent misuse.
The company assured consumers that all data collected will remain confidential and used exclusively for service improvements. Experts have praised the campaign as a crucial step toward digital transparency and enhanced consumer trust, anticipating that the initiative will lead to a more efficient, consumer-friendly electricity management system in the region.
