ICC to ensure foolproof security for Pakistan team during World Cup

ISLAMABAD – The high-profile committee of the incumbent government asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday to ensure foolproof security of the Pakistan national cricket team during the World Cup in India.

A meeting of the committee formed by the government was held under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari.

On this occasion, the committee made a detailed review of the Pakistani team’s participation in the World Cup in India.

Sources divulged that the authorities concerned with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) had agreed to send the team to India. However, the ICC was asked to ensure foolproof security for the Pakistani team in the mega event.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar , Information Minister Marrriyum Aurangzeb, and Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar agreed to send the team to India.

Meanwhile, Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Ehsanur Rehman Mazari and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira suggested not sending the Pakistani team to India for the World Cup.
