ICC Pleased with Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 Preparations
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed its satisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) detailed presentation on the preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy, sources told Geo News on Monday. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also in attendance during the ICC meeting where the briefing took place.
According to sources, PCB officials assured the ICC board members that the upgrades to the stadiums hosting the event are progressing as planned, and any remaining work will be completed within the designated timeline.
Naqvi extended an invitation to the ICC board members to visit Pakistan and personally inspect the preparations for the major tournament. He also invited them to attend once the event kicks off.
Scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, the Champions Trophy in Pakistan faces challenges, including uncertainty over the participation of the Indian cricket team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting approval from the Indian government for the team to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
Previously, the PCB proposed a solution where the Indian team would return to India after each match to limit their stay in Pakistan during the competition, according to The News.
It’s important to note that India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since the 2012-13 season, and the last time India traveled to Pakistan was in 2008.
