ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Ticket Sales Disrupted as Websites Crash Due to Overwhelming Traffic
LAHORE: The online ticket sales for the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 were disrupted on Tuesday after the official websites experienced a crash due to a massive influx of traffic from eager cricket fans.
The ticket sales, which began on Tuesday, had been highly awaited, as the prestigious tournament is set to be hosted by Pakistan for the first time since 1996. Fans flocked to purchase tickets for the group-stage matches, which will be held in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, but many were unable to complete their transactions due to the overwhelmed servers.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ticket sales for the group-stage matches in Pakistan were officially launched on January 28, with prices for general stand tickets starting at PKR 1,000, while premium seating options were available for PKR 1,500. Despite these affordable prices, the high demand for tickets caused the websites to crash, frustrating fans who had been eagerly waiting for the opportunity to secure their spots.
“Members of the ICC Family enjoyed early access for two hours, but the general sales were hampered by technical difficulties as the websites could not handle the sheer volume of traffic,” a PCB spokesperson confirmed.
Ticket sales for the matches in Dubai, including India’s fixtures on February 20, 23, and March 2, will be announced separately, with the final, scheduled for March 9, also having its own sales window following the first semi-final in Dubai.
Physical Ticket Sales to Begin February 3
For fans who faced difficulties online, physical tickets will be available for purchase starting February 3 at designated TCS Express centers across Pakistan. The PCB has yet to announce further details regarding the exact locations of these centers.
