IAF Jaguar Fighter Jet Crashes in Gujarat Due to Technical Fault

Indian Air Force Suffers Multiple Jet Crashes Amid Growing Safety Concerns

Gujarat: In a series of alarming incidents, two Indian Air Force jets crashed on April 2, 2025, due to technical faults, raising serious concerns about the operational safety and readiness of India’s air defense.

The first crash occurred in Gujarat’s Jamnagar region, involving an Indian Air Force Jaguar fighter jet. The second incident, occurring earlier the same day, involved a single-engine aircraft that went down near Ucharpi village, close to Mehsana city. Both incidents were attributed to technical issues.

This follows a troubling trend of crashes within the Indian Air Force, including a significant crash last month where two Indian Air Force jets, including another Jaguar fighter jet, went down on the same day. A similar MiG-29 fighter jet crash near Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in November 2024 further added to the growing concern.

Defense experts have expressed grave concerns over the safety and operational preparedness of the Indian Air Force, highlighting systemic issues within the military. One expert noted, “The aircraft accidents pose serious questions about the operational preparedness and safety standards of the Indian Air Force.”

Criticism has been leveled at the current government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with some analysts blaming his policies for weakening India’s defense capabilities. “Due to Modi’s flawed policies, India’s defense system has become hollow,” said one expert. Another added, “The Indian Air Force is deteriorating with each passing day due to the failure of Modi’s government’s policies and corruption. Promises of improving defense under Modi are nothing but empty words.”

As investigations into the recent crashes continue, the growing number of such incidents has raised concerns over the future of India’s air defense capabilities.
