Hundreds feared dead after strong Afghanistan earthquake.

A Difficult Rescue Mission in a Remote Mountain Region

Afghanistan – (Special Correspondent / Web  Desk) – A powerful earthquake has hit northeastern Afghanistan. Officials fear hundreds of people have died or were hurt. The quake struck a mountainous area, making rescue work very difficult.

Early reports from one village confirm 30 deaths. The full number of casualties is still unknown because the affected villages are remote and hard to reach.

A health official said, “The number of hurt and dead is high. Our teams are working, but the area is tough to get to.”

Hundreds of injured people have already been taken to the hospital. This number is expected to rise as news comes in from cut-off communities.

The quake struck at night and was very shallow, causing strong shaking. It destroyed many homes built from mud and stone.

This region is known for frequent and often deadly earthquakes because of its location near colliding tectonic plates.

Last year, a similar series of quakes in western Afghanistan killed over 1,000 people. The country is highly vulnerable to natural disasters.

A government minister expressed his deep sadness, confirming a tragic loss of over 300 lives and offering condolences to all the affected families.
