Historic Olympic Gold Medalist Arshad Nadeem Honored by Army Chief
At a ceremony celebrating a major achievement in Pakistani sports, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir recognized Olympian Arshad Nadeem at the Army Auditorium GHQ. The event was held to honor Nadeem’s groundbreaking success in securing Pakistan’s first gold medal in a singles Olympic event.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of sports teams and renowned athletes, including the 1984 Olympic and national hockey teams, the national cricket team, street football team, army polo team, and athletes from the visually impaired cricket and women’s goalball teams.
Prominent sports figures such as Jehangir Khan, Islahuddin, Shahbaz Senior, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Asif, and Aisamul Haq were also present. Arshad Nadeem’s family, friends, and coaches gathered to celebrate his success.
General Munir praised Nadeem for his exceptional achievement and commended his perseverance and bravery. He noted how Nadeem’s dedication and hard work led to breaking records and setting new standards for Pakistani athletics on the global stage.

The COAS reaffirmed his commitment to supporting and empowering Pakistani youth, stressing the importance of nurturing young talent for the country’s prosperity. He highlighted that engaging, developing, and entertaining the youth are vital for a thriving society.
