Hermann’s Career-Best Fifty-Three Powers South Africa To Victory

Windhoek: (News Desk) – Jordan Hermann produced a career-best 53 as South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by 48 runs in the final of the Twenty20 tri-series in Windhoek, Namibia, on Sunday.

After winning the toss, South Africa elected to bat and posted an imposing 205 for five in their 20 overs. Hermann led the scoring with an impressive 29-ball knock featuring eight boundaries and a six.

The player of the match was eventually dismissed after mistiming a delivery from Brad Evans, with Ryan Burl completing the catch at long-on.

Zimbabwe, who had already suffered two defeats against South Africa during the league stage, faced early trouble in the final. They lost four wickets within the first 23 balls but fought back to reach 157 in 18 overs.

At one stage, Zimbabwe were struggling at 81 for eight before Evans launched a remarkable counterattack. He remained unbeaten on 56, smashing four sixes and four fours. Evans also shared a 52-run ninth-wicket partnership with Kundai Matigimu, who contributed 19.

South Africa’s experimental squad was without regular captain Temba Bavuma, who was rested, while fast bowler Kagiso Rabada missed the series through injury.

South Africa will now turn their attention to a three-match ODI series against hosts Namibia, beginning on Wednesday.
