HEC Reinstates Ban on College Affiliations with Universities
Educational stakeholders await the revised criteria from the HEC, expected to redefine the parameters for college affiliations in the future.
LAHORE: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has reimposed a ban on government universities affiliating with colleges, citing the need for revised criteria and compliance with existing guidelines.
In a recent directive, the HEC instructed universities to halt new affiliations immediately and withdraw all related advertisements from social and print media. The commission emphasized that violations would result in financial penalties.
This move comes amid efforts to streamline educational standards and ensure quality assurance across the board. Last year, similar restrictions resulted in significant financial repercussions for government universities.
