Heavy rains flood Buner, NDMA alerts residents with warnings

Floodwaters Devastate Buner: Crops, Homes, and Roads Severely Affected

Buner-(Special Correspondent / Web Desk)-Continuous heavy rainfall has caused flash floods in rivers and canals across Buner district, submerging low-lying areas, damaging farmlands, and forcing families to leave their homes for safer places.

Mosques made urgent announcements asking people to move to higher ground, as floodwaters entered houses and reached Pir Baba Bazaar, creating a state of emergency.

Deputy Commissioner Kashif Qayyum confirmed a high alert across Buner. Rescue teams have been deployed, and safe locations have been identified for displaced families.

“The water level in Batai and Qadr Nagar is dangerously high and moving quickly toward Pir Baba Khoor. Floodwaters have reached behind the main market and road level. Evacuations are ongoing,” he said.

He further added that if the situation worsens, temporary government shelters will be arranged for families unable to return home.

Impact on Agriculture and Infrastructure

Floodwaters have damaged key roads, cutting off access to several areas. Farmlands, crops, and orchards have also been destroyed, raising fears of major economic losses for farmers.

The heavy rainfall, continuing for more than five hours, has worsened the situation. Locals describe scenes of panic and fear as floodwaters keep rising.
