HDF Releases Report on Graphic Health Warnings with Stakeholder Support
Officials Reinforce Commitment to Tobacco Control and Protecting Youth from Industry Tactics
Islamabad — The Human Development Foundation (HDF) successfully launched its comprehensive report on Graphic Health Warnings (GHW) yesterday in Islamabad, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to curb tobacco consumption and protect public health in Pakistan.
The launch event was graced by dignitaries from the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Ministry of Human Rights, The Zakat Foundation of America, Director General to the Federal Minister, National Commissioner of Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA), Director training Pakistan Boy scouts Association (PBSA) prominent representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs), and members of the National Press Club.
The report highlights the critical role of Graphic Health Warnings on tobacco products as an effective tool in raising awareness about the harmful effects of smoking, especially among youth and vulnerable populations. It provides evidence-based recommendations for strengthening the implementation of GHWs in Pakistan, aligning with global best practices and Pakistan’s commitments under the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).
Speaking at the event, HDF representatives emphasized the urgency of collective action against tobacco-related harm. “Graphic Health Warnings save lives. It is our collective responsibility to ensure these warnings are visible, impactful, and strictly enforced,” said the HDF Project Manager.
Officials from the Ministry of Health and Federal Directorate of Education reiterated their commitment to strengthening tobacco control efforts and integrating awareness on the health hazards of tobacco into school curriculums. The Ministry of Human Rights also stressed the importance of protecting the rights of children and adolescents by shielding them from tobacco industry tactics.

The event concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among government bodies, CSOs, educators, media, and international partners to create a tobacco-free future for Pakistan.
