Legal Experts: Hassan Nawaz's Tax Fine Can Still Be Recovered Despite Bankruptcy
LONDON: Hassan Nawaz, the son of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has been declared a tax defaulter in the United Kingdom, with the British government imposing a hefty fine of £5.2 million on him.
According to a list published on the UK Revenue and Customs website, Hassan Nawaz failed to pay taxes amounting to approximately £9.4 million for the period between April 5, 2015, and April 6, 2016.
The UK tax authorities have also disclosed details of the case, including Hassan Nawaz’s residential address, Avenfield House, Park Lane, on an official government website.

Legal experts have pointed out that despite Hassan Nawaz’s bankruptcy, UK tax laws do not exempt individuals from penalties for tax evasion. As such, the fine imposed on him could still be recovered, irrespective of his financial status.
Reports suggest that the British government is committed to enforcing tax laws rigorously, ensuring that defaulters, regardless of their wealth or financial standing, face consequences for non-compliance.
