Haryana Man Arrested in Plot to Attack Salman Khan Amid Ongoing Investigation

Navi Mumbai police apprehend suspect linked to reconnaissance of Khan's Panvel farmhouse.

A man from Haryana has been arrested by Navi Mumbai police for allegedly surveying Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse back in February.

This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a conspiracy to attack the actor, following a previous shooting incident outside his Bandra residence in Mumbai on April 14.

The police filed an FIR on April 24, which revealed plans to target Khan at his farmhouse, marking the second attempt on his life. According to the charge sheet, the accused was offered ₹2.5 million to carry out the attack, with intentions to obtain weapons from Pakistan.

The plot was thwarted when senior inspector Nitin Thakare received a tip-off regarding the suspects’ activities, leading to the apprehension of five individuals. Among those arrested was Sukhbir Balbir Singh, also known as Sukha, who allegedly supplied firearms and was in contact with a Pakistan-based individual named Dogar to acquire the necessary weapons.

Navi Mumbai police had been searching for Sukha and recently located him at a hotel in Panipat, where he had changed his appearance by growing out his hair and beard. The investigation revealed that 16 to 17 people were involved in the reconnaissance operation at the Panvel farmhouse.

In June, four additional individuals linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi were arrested: Dhananjay Tapesingh (alias Ajay Kashyap), Gaurav Bhatia (alias Nahvi), Vapsi Khan (alias Waseem Chikna), and Rizwan Khan.

The police charge sheet indicated that the Bishnoi gang had placed a ₹2.5 million contract on Salman Khan’s life, planning to execute the attack during a movie shoot or as Khan left his Panvel farmhouse.

The conspiracy reportedly developed between August 2023 and April 2024, with intentions to acquire advanced weapons from Pakistan, including AK-47s, AK-92s, M16 rifles, and the Turkey-made Zigana pistol, the same model used in the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Investigations revealed that the gang communicated through a WhatsApp group of 15 to 16 members, which included Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, and key operatives like Goldy Brar, Kashyap, Bhatia, Cheena, and Javed Khan.

Sukha and Dogar were identified as the primary arms suppliers. As part of their scheme, the gang deployed 60 to 70 operatives to monitor Salman Khan’s movements.

Bishnoi Gang’s Public Threats: A New Chapter in the Salman Khan Saga

The ongoing threat against Khan is linked to Lawrence Bishnoi’s long-standing grudge stemming from Khan’s involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which angered the Bishnoi community, known for their reverence for the blackbuck.
