Harris and Trump Neck-and-Neck in Swing State Battle, Bloomberg Poll Finds

Harris’ economic message narrows Trump’s lead, while both candidates vie for critical battlegrounds.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is currently holding a slim lead over Republican opponent Donald Trump in six key swing states, with both candidates tied in a seventh, according to a Bloomberg poll of likely voters released on Friday.

Harris’ advantage in each of the states is within the poll’s margin of error, suggesting the outcome of the November 5 election could be decided by very close margins, the report noted.

The Bloomberg News/Morning Consult survey shows Harris leading Trump by seven points in Nevada, five points in Pennsylvania, three points in Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and two points in North Carolina. The candidates are tied in Georgia.

Overall, Harris leads by three percentage points across the seven states, up by two points from last month. Notably, 47% of likely voters believe Harris will win the election, regardless of who they support, compared to 40% for Trump.

However, a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll highlighted Trump’s economic advantage, showing a slight majority of voters favoring his promise to raise tariffs on imported goods. Similarly, a New York Times battleground states poll earlier this week found Trump slightly ahead in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Despite maintaining a four-point lead on handling the economy, Trump’s advantage in this area has narrowed, dropping from six points in August. On immigration, Trump holds a 14-point lead in voter trust, despite making a false statement during a September 10 debate about Haitian immigrants in Ohio.

The Bloomberg poll surveyed 6,165 registered voters in seven swing states from September 19 to 25, with 5,692 likely voters participating. The margin of error is ±1 percentage point for the overall voter group and varies by state, with a ±3-point margin in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and ±4 points in Nevada.
