Mubarak Zeb, who is also the younger brother of slain PTI worker Rehan Zeb, was elected as an independent candidate from NA-8 Bajaur in a by-election held in April 2025. He had scored an upset victory over the Sunni Ittehad Council candidate.

Rehan Zeb was shot dead by unidentified gunmen during the general elections in February 2024, leading to the postponement of elections in the constituency.
