Hamas Pressures Israel to Begin Second Phase of Ceasefire Negotiations

GAZA: Hamas has stated that Israel has “no choice but to start negotiations” on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire following the group’s handover of the bodies of four Israeli hostages. In a statement released Thursday via Telegram, Hamas emphasized that it had synchronized the transfer of the bodies of the Israeli prisoners with the release of Palestinian detainees, demanding that Israel now engage in talks for the next phase of the ceasefire.

The release of over 600 Palestinian detainees has led to highly emotional scenes as they arrived in Gaza. Many of the detainees were visibly exhausted and suffering from the harsh conditions endured in Israeli detention centers. The Red Cross facilitated the emotional reunions between the freed detainees and their families.
