The incident, which has stirred political and public backlash, is being described by the singer's family as an “attack on his soul.”

HARAYANA: A fresh wave of sorrow and outrage has gripped fans of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala after unidentified gunmen opened fire on his statue in Sawant Kheda village of Dabwali, Sirsa district.

The incident, which has stirred political and public backlash, is being described by the singer’s family as an “attack on his soul.”

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, warning those who continue to honour Moosewala’s memory.

‘They won’t let my son rest’: Charan Kaur breaks the silence

In a heart-wrenching Instagram post, Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, expressed her deep anguish in Punjabi, stating:

“My son’s enemies are not letting him rest even after his death… this is an attack on his memory and a wound to my soul.”

She went on to say that Sidhu Moosewala was more than an artist—he was “a movement” whose voice represented people’s rights, and that no amount of violence could silence him.

“Our silence is not our defeat. The day will come when these criminals will meet their end,” she added.

Statue attacked, threats sent to political figures

The statue of Sidhu Moosewala, installed in 2023 by JJP state president Digvijay Chautala, was partially damaged in the attack, which occurred a few nights ago.

According to Press Trust of India, on July 29, Digvijay Chautala received a video message from a foreign number showing gunfire directed at the statue, accompanied by a chilling threat:

“After Sidhu Moosewala, it’s the turn of his sympathizers.”

A case has been registered at Dabwali police station in Sirsa district, and investigations are ongoing.

In a social media statement, members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, including Goldie Dhillon and Arzu Bishnoi, took responsibility for the shooting. They accused political figures like Digvijay Chautala and Gagan Khokhari of misleading the public by portraying Sidhu Moosewala as a martyr.

They further argued that statues should only be erected for freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh or martyred soldiers, not singers.
