Midland TX Shooting Today Leaves One Dead and Nine Injured After Standoff
Midland – (Web Desk) – A gunman opened fire in Midland TX shooting today, Friday, June 12, leaving at least one person dead and nine others rushed to the hospital. The attack started around 8 in the morning, shocking residents and triggering a large police response across the area.
The suspect did not flee after the shooting. Instead, he barricaded himself inside a building near a local veterinary hospital. Police quickly surrounded the area, bringing in armored vehicles, heavily armed officers, and even robots to help manage the standoff safely.
Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed the death toll and said at least nine people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. She also noted that the numbers could still change as the investigation continues.
Midland Memorial Hospital reported that four victims went straight into surgery, while five others were listed in stable condition. The hospital tightened security and set up a special center where worried families could go to find information about their loved ones.
People who were near the scene described hearing a large number of gunshots. Videos that spread online showed a massive law enforcement operation already underway within minutes of the first reports.
Police confirmed the suspect was contained during the standoff. However, no clear motive has been released to the public yet. Several roads in the area were shut down while officers worked through the situation.
This tragic event happened nearly seven years after the 2019 Midland-Odessa shooting, which killed seven people and injured dozens more. That attack remains one of the deadliest in the history of West Texas.
