GUJ Strengthens Members’ Professional Capacity and Work Ease

Gilgit-(Musab Khaliq)-The Gilgit Union of Journalists held a general body meeting at the House of Journalism, where members reviewed and approved several key decisions. The President, Zohaib Akhtar, presented the annual performance and finance reports, which received positive feedback from the attendees. The constitution was also ratified, and an amendment was made to allow the president to contest elections again after a one-term lapse.

The meeting acknowledged the union’s progress in enhancing journalists’ professional capacity, welfare, and work ease over the past year. Plans are underway for future projects to further improve journalists’ affairs and welfare. The endowment fund and board members, including Shabbir Mir, Imtiaz Ali Taj, and Abdul Rehman Bukhari, were formally approved. Additionally, the president and secretary finance were appointed as board members by virtue of office, and their terms were extended to two years.

The Gilgit Union of Journalists has taken significant strides in supporting its members, and this meeting marked another milestone in its efforts to promote journalists’ interests and development.
