Govt to Import Raw Sugar to Stabilize Prices
The imported raw sugar will be refined and processed locally
ISLAMABAD: In a bid to control rising sugar prices, the federal government has decided to import raw sugar (Shakkar). This move is expected to provide relief to consumers by stabilizing the sugar market.
According to a press release issued by the government on Monday, the import of raw sugar will help bring down the prices of sugar within the country. The imported raw sugar will be refined and processed locally, boosting future sugar production.
This decision aims to ensure a consistent sugar supply in the local market and provide consumers with sugar at more reasonable rates.
