FBATI President Calls for Single-Digit Interest Rate to Boost Investments
KARACHI: President Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industries ( FBATI) Shaikh Muhammad Tehseen landed the reduction in the industrial tariff of electricity, terming it a business-friendly step for the country.
He, however, pointed out that the production cost of the industries, including SMEs from other heads also rose to a very high level.
He urged the government to negotiate with other IPPs to reduce the power tariff further. The power tariff should reduce to 9 cent per unit for export-oriented sector to boost exports of various products.
Lower power tariff will contain inflation, enhance the local and export-oriented productions, and encourage industries to utilize extra electricity from the national grid.
Also, affordable electricity will attract investors to set up industrial units in the vacant industrial zones for large, medium and small industrial and business units, Tehseen added.
