Govt decides to take action against PTI chief Imran Khan

LAHORE  – The government on Saturday decided to proceed with legal action against former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan after he hurled serious allegations against state institutions.

The action has been made in a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore, in which senior leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was present.

It was decided in the meeting that the federal government while using its powers over vandalism at government properties and buildings, siege, violent activities and baseless allegations against institutions.

The meeting decided to take legal against the former prime minister in the light of the statement of the spokesperson of the Pakistan Army following the accusations of Imran Khan. It was decided that legal action will be taken against the PTI chairman and his other associates over their statements against the state and institutions, for which a constitutional committee consisting of legal experts will be constituted.

During the meeting, separate action will be taken on vandalism and violent activities outside the Governor Punjab House and other places, while legal action will also be taken on the attacks of PTI leaders and workers on private property and strict action will be taken against all those involved persons in the light of the constitution.

The federal government Saturday suspended Chief City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar,

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Mr Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, presently serving under the Government of Punjab, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect and till further orders.

The federal government wanted to remove the CCPO Lahore for a long time but Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi refused to relieve his services to the federal government.

The Punjab government defied the order of the federal government thrice before the federal government took the initiative to suspend the top cop.
