Governor Punjab inaugurated the All Punjab Universities Vice Chancellors Conference
Rawalpindi: (Staff Reporter) Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rahman inaugurated the All Punjab Universities Vice Chancellors Conference at Kohsar University, Murree.
The three-day conference will have sessions on energy crisis, food security, climate change, recent floods, IT technology, agriculture, drug eradication, character building of students and women empowerment.
Furthermore the conference was attended by Chairman Higher Education Pakistan Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Punjab Dr. Shahid Munir and vice chancellors of public and private universities of Punjab.
Addressing the conference, Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rahman said that universities are the only force that can guarantee the development and prosperity of the country and the role of students in educational institutions besides achieving excellence in academic and research standards.
According to the source, it is also the responsibility of the universities to perform the duty of character building of students.
He said that recent floods have proved that climate change is a big challenge for the world and for our country and with the help of modern research in this field, universities should provide clear policy and guidelines to the government to deal with climate change.
Governor Punjab BalighurRahman said that along with environmental changes, there is a need to find solutions through research to completely eliminate smog, dengue, COVID and protect agriculture from degradation.
He said that a close link between industry and universities is indispensable and this is the method by which universities cannot only get resources for research but also can increase the production of industries and provide environment-friendly technology for factories.
