Governor Punjab Confers Honorary Doctorate on UAE Ambassador

 

Lahore_ Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, awarded an honorary doctorate to the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Alzaabi, at a special convocation of the Institute of Arts and Culture at the Governor’s House in Lahore on Friday.

The UAE ambassador was awarded the honorary doctorate in recognition of his valuable services in promoting bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE, particularly in the field of trade.

In his address at the ceremony, Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman said that it was an honor for him to confer the honorary doctorate to the UAE ambassador. He praised the ambassador’s role in strengthening cultural, trade, and public relations between the two countries.

“Pakistan and the UAE have very cordial brotherly relations,” said the governor. “I hope that our relations with the UAE will become even stronger and more stable.”

Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman also called for exchange programs between educational institutions in Pakistan and the UAE. He said that Pakistani students are increasingly going to the world’s best universities to pursue their education.

“The path to development lies through the acquisition of knowledge,” said the governor. “Pakistani universities are improving their positions in the Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds rankings.”

Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman said that Pakistani universities want to open campuses around the world, including in the UAE. He also said that Pakistan has a very low share in greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dioxide emissions, but it has been hit by devastating floods due to climate change.

The UAE ambassador, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Alzaabi, said that it was a great honor for him to receive the honorary doctorate. He said that the Pakistani community is playing an important role in the economic development of the UAE.

The UAE ambassador said that he is looking forward to working with Pakistani investors on joint projects for investment in various sectors in the UAE. He also said that the UAE is interested in expanding relations with Pakistan in the areas of food security, culture, education, and trade.
